    For the past years, the Philippine Army have done several efforts in promoting gender equality and advocating gender mainstreaming. The activation of the Office of the Army Gender and Development (OAGAD) is one of the schemes made by the Philippine Army which became the foothold of this organization in becoming more GAD-complaint. Among our accomplishments are the intensified level of GAD awareness of PA personnel, both men and women, through capacity building, and the development and publication of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials containing GAD and the core messages.

    HISTORY       

    Gender and Development Office was created based on Letter Directive dated 17 August 2015. The Chief, Gender and Development Office is a Special Staff of the Commander, Headquarters and Headquarters Support Group in all matters pertaining to gender and development (GAD). GAD Office was created to strengthen the Group’s capacity in implementing the GAD national and international mandates. In order to effectively implement the mainstreaming efforts, GAD Office in PAMU level was created

     

    Responsibility
        
    The Office of the Army Gender and Development (OAGAD) is a special staff of the Commanding General, Philippine Army on all matters pertaining to Gender and Development (GAD).


    Function

    •  Acts as the primary policy-making and coordinating body on gender equality concerns in the PA;

    • Conducts assessment of gender-responsiveness of systems, structures, policies, programs and procedures of the Army based on the priority needs and concerns of military and civilian personnel;

    • Develops, recommends and monitors gender-responsive and conflict-sensitive policies, plans, programs, systems and mechanisms aligned with the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR) and PA's thrusts and programs;

    • Facilitates advocacy activities and other capacity-building programs on gender and development;

    • Leads the Preparation and submission of Annua PA GAD Pland and Budget and Accomplishment Report;

    • Monitors and reports the status of gender mainstreaming efforts and other performance/accomplishment reports vis-à-vis GAD PAPs and budgets; and
