    Commanding Officer 1301st DD HHSG, PA
    The 1301st Dental Dispensary, is a dental facility under the Headquarters and Headquarters Support Group, Philippine Army that serves as the forefront in providing comprehensive dental health care and treatment for the Philippine Army personnel, their dependents and authorized civilians inside post. Categorized as Dental Dispensary Class “D”, this unit is capable of rendering dental treatment to 5,000 or more military personnel including their dependents. With a meager workforce of military personnel and civilian employees, this unit has no doubt in demonstrating its capability of carrying out its duties and responsibilities.

    HISTORY
              Within the Philippine Army Training Command, Fort Mckinley Rizal exists a unique Army Dental Service installation - a monument of which is the dental dispensary occupying a new building of their own. Coincidentally this was the first building that was put up a few months after General Arellano became PATC’s Commanding General.

                Said dispensary houses different clinic of discipline in dentistry equipped with the most modern apparatus and equipment during that period. The Dental Service, PATC started on 01 September 1946 when the first Infantry Regiment (PA) was activated in Camp Murphy. Its mother unit was the Medical Detachment of said regiment with LT COLONEL SINFOROSO CARIÑO, DS as its first Dental Officer. On 16 July 1947, this unit was assigned with the 1st Infantry Battalion, Military Training Command, PA Station at Florida Blanca, Pampanga.

                On 01 January 1948, the 1st Infantry Training Battalion, was re-designated as the 1st Infantry Training Regiment, PGF thereby different Dental clinics in the field were absorbed to bring about a bigger Dental Unit, and on 13 August 1949 the 1st Infantry Training Regiment, PGF together with the Medical Detachment, PATC transferred its station to Ft William McKinley, Rizal. It was here that assigned Dental Officers exerted their efforts to finally set up and made distinct their new found unit by virtue of Sec 11 GO Nr 345, GHQ AFP dtd 19 December 1950, activating the dental branch, PGF AFP. On 01 August 1951, the Dental Service, PATC was re designated the Post Dental Detachment, later re-designated as Dental Section PATC pur Sec 1, GO Nr 13 HPATC dtd 22 February 1954, after General Arellano had taken command of the PATC. LT COL VIVENCIO P SANTOS DS acted as the Dental Surgeon to the Commanding General.
                On 01 November 1954, the 6th Dental Dispensary, HPATC with subsidiary clinic at the Dependents Clinic at the EM’s Barrio was  activated “A” Dispensary with an authorized strength of four (4) Dental Officers & nine (9) enlisted personnel pursuant to section 1 GO Nr 503 GHQ AFP dtd 09 November 1954 with MAJOR LORENZO C VERA, DS as its first Commanding Officer and responsible to PATC Dental Surgeon, LT COLONEL VIVENCIO P SANTOS in the  pursuit of its mission of preserving the dento-oral health of the command to include their dependents. Other Officers who man this dispensary are MAJOR RAYMUNDO L GATPAYAT, DS as the Executive Officer and OIC Finance and Supply Section; MAJOR RAMON DE JESUS, DS as OIC of X-Ray and Surgery Section; MAJOR BERNARDO AGUILA, DS OIC Operative Section; and ILT CRISOSTOMO, DS Prosthodontic & as OIC Prosthetic Clinic and Laboratory Section.

                On 21 September 1966, the 6th Dental Dispensary was again re designated 1301st PA Dental Dispensary by virtue of Para 1 GO Nr 117 GHQ AFP dtd 25 October 1966. This unit is operating under (TOE-13-600) with authorized strength of six (6) Dental Officers and fifteen (15) EM.
    During the period 1964-1965, this Dental Dispensary was adjudged as the Best Dental Installation of the Year during the 10th Anniversary of the AFP Dental Service. It was during the incumbency of the Commanding Officer COLONEL RODOLFO F LAMUG.   

       ACTIVATION
              On 01 Nov ’54, the 6th Dental Dispensary, within the subsidiary clinic of the dependents clinic at the EM’s barrio, was activated Type “A” Dispensary with an authorized strength of four (4) officers and nine (9) enlisted personnel pursuant to Sec 1 GO # 503, GHQ, AFP dtd 09 Nov ’54 (TOE 8.500 FR) stationed at Ft Mc Kinley, Rizal.
    MISSION:
    PRIMARY – The 6th Dental Dispensary, HPATC is responsible for the Dental Service of this command. Specifically, it is charged for the preservation of the health of the military personnel in so far as their general health is related to the dento-oral diseases, injuries, abnormalities or deficiencies.

    SECONDARY 

                (1)        Training of Officers, and Enlisted Personnel in the AFP Dental Service, in so far as the professional enhancement is concerned. Officers of this unit augments the training staff of the MRF Dental Service Center, this 
                            however,
                            seized when said unit was absorbed by the GHQ on 01 Jan 89 Pur to Para 2, GHQ #74-GHQ, AFP dtd 24 Dec 88.
                (2)       Performs professional services to direct military dependents (spouse and children below 18 years old). Authority AFPRG-161-221 GHQ, AFP dtd 22 Nov 54), covered by this Post minus restoration especially involving 
                           special dental materials, gold, etc.
                (3)       Gives support to other dental units needing treatment of the tooth supporting tissues (periodontia) and root canal treatment (endodontic).
                (4)       Offers prevention and control services to deserving indigents (Rural Patients) not covered by any of the above depending on the availability of service, materials and supplies.

          CAPABILITIES  
          
                The 6th Dental Dispensary (Type “D”) is capable of rendering dental treatment to 5,000 or more military personnel including their dependents.
    Dento-oral examination as part of physical examination and dental survey of troops.
    Treatment of all oral diseases to include extractions and dental x-ray.
    All types of filling as part of preventive dentistry to include root canal treatments and oral prophylaxis.
    Dental restorations of all types to include alloy made partial dentures.
    Emergency dental care - 24/7.

                With the unit expansion program pursued by previous commanders since assumption of its present address, the 1301st PA Dental Dispensary, other capabilities were incorporated as follows:
    Continuation of dental restoration of all types of fabrication of alloy framework for removable type dentures, PA wide.
    Provide panoramic dental x-ray for diagnosis of maxillo-facial injuries and orthodontic cases.
    Provide management of selective orthodontic cases.
    Provide harelip surgical management (on special arrangement).

                            1)         01 Nov 54 – Activated under the TOE 9..500 FR GHQ AFP Pur to Sec 1 GO #503, GHQ AF dtd 09 Nov 54, Type “A” dispensary with four (4) officers and nine (9) enlisted personnel.
                                        Designation: - 6th Dental Dispensary, Headquarters & Headquarters Battalion Army, stationed at Ft Mckinley, Rizal.
                            2)         01 Mar 57 – Redesignated as Type “D” Dispensary under TOE 8.500 from Pur to Sec IV, GO # 389, GHQ AFP dtd 09 Mar 57, with authorized strength of six (6) officers and fifteen (15) enlisted personnel.
                            3)         03 Aug 61 – 6th Dental Dispensary, HHBA which was originally located/ housed at the building now occupied by HMROTC and finally moved to its present site (adjacent to MRFDSC, PA)
                            4)         21 Sep 66 – 6th Dental Dispensary, HHBA was again re-designated 1301st PA Dental Dispensary, HHBA by virtue of Para 1 GO # 117, GHQ AFP, dtd 25 Oct 66, under TOE 13-600 with authorized strength of                                        six (6) officers and fifteen (15) enlisted personnel.
                            5)         01 Jul 70 – Pending approval of the TOE/TD, Headquarters & Headquarters Battalion Army was reorganized. 1301st PA Dental Dispensary being under HHBA had increased its strength to seven (7) officers and  eighteen (18) enlisted personnel, pursuant to GO31, HPA, dtd 02 Jul 70. 6)         20 Oct 72 – 1301st PA Dental Dispensary, Headquarters & headquarters Battalion Army was provisionally reorganized as 1301st PA Dental dispensary, Headquarters & headquarters Support Group to Sec 11, GO # 92, HPA, dtd 19 Oct 72 pending distribution-PATC 100-1-6B.

          CAPABILITIES  
          
                The 6th Dental Dispensary (Type “D”) is capable of rendering dental treatment to 5,000 or more military personnel including their dependents.
    Dento-oral examination as part of physical examination and dental survey of troops.
    Treatment of all oral diseases to include extractions and dental x-ray.
    All types of filling as part of preventive dentistry to include root canal treatments and oral prophylaxis.
    Dental restorations of all types to include alloy made partial dentures.
    Emergency dental care - 24/7.

                With the unit expansion program pursued by previous commanders since assumption of its present address, the 1301st PA Dental Dispensary, other capabilities were incorporated as follows:
    Continuation of dental restoration of all types of fabrication of alloy framework for removable type dentures, PA wide.
    Provide panoramic dental x-ray for diagnosis of maxillo-facial injuries and orthodontic cases.
    Provide management of selective orthodontic cases.
    Provide harelip surgical management (on special arrangement).

                            1)         01 Nov 54 – Activated under the TOE 9..500 FR GHQ AFP Pur to Sec 1 GO #503, GHQ AF dtd 09 Nov 54, Type “A” dispensary with four (4) officers and nine (9) enlisted personnel.
                                        Designation: - 6th Dental Dispensary, Headquarters & Headquarters Battalion Army, stationed at Ft Mckinley, Rizal.
                            2)         01 Mar 57 – Redesignated as Type “D” Dispensary under TOE 8.500 from Pur to Sec IV, GO # 389, GHQ AFP dtd 09 Mar 57, with authorized strength of six (6) officers and fifteen (15) enlisted personnel.
                            3)         03 Aug 61 – 6th Dental Dispensary, HHBA which was originally located/ housed at the building now occupied by HMROTC and finally moved to its present site (adjacent to MRFDSC, PA)
                            4)         21 Sep 66 – 6th Dental Dispensary, HHBA was again re-designated 1301st PA Dental Dispensary, HHBA by virtue of Para 1 GO # 117, GHQ AFP, dtd 25 Oct 66, under TOE 13-600 with authorized strength of                                        six (6) officers and fifteen (15) enlisted personnel.
                            5)         01 Jul 70 – Pending approval of the TOE/TD, Headquarters & Headquarters Battalion Army was reorganized. 1301st PA Dental Dispensary being under HHBA had increased its strength to seven (7) officers and  eighteen (18) enlisted personnel, pursuant to GO31, HPA, dtd 02 Jul 70. 6)         20 Oct 72 – 1301st PA Dental Dispensary, Headquarters & headquarters Battalion Army was provisionally reorganized as 1301st PA Dental dispensary, Headquarters & headquarters Support Group to Sec 11, GO # 92, HPA, dtd 19 Oct 72 pending distribution-PATC 100-1-6B.

    MISSION

    PRIMARY – The 6th Dental Dispensary, HPATC is responsible for the Dental Service of this command. Specifically, it is charged for the preservation of the health of the military personnel in so far as their general health is related to the dento-oral diseases, injuries, abnormalities or deficiencies.
                 
    SECONDARY – (1) Training of Officers, and Enlisted Personnel in the AFP Dental Service, in so far as the professional enhancement is concerned. Officers of this unit augments the training staff of the MRF Dental Service Center, this however, seized when said unit was absorbed by the GHQ on 01 Jan 89 Pur to Para 2, GHQ #74-GHQ, AFP dtd 24 Dec 88.
    (2) Performs professional services to direct military dependents (spouse and children below 18 years old). Authority AFPRG-161-221 GHQ, AFP dtd 22 Nov 54), covered by this Post minus restoration especially involving special dental materials, gold, etc. (3) Gives support to other dental units needing treatment of the tooth supporting tissues (periodontia) and root canal treatment (endodontic).

    On 01 Nov ’54, the 6th Dental Dispensary, within the subsidiary clinic of the dependents clinic at the EM’s barrio, was activated Type “A” Dispensary with an authorized strength of four (4) officers and nine (9) enlisted personnel pursuant to Sec 1 GO # 503, GHQ, AFP dtd 09 Nov ’54 (TOE 8.500 FR) stationed at Ft Mc Kinley, Rizal.
