PA trooper recoup a place on International Podium


    Army troopers once again did the Philippines proud by placing a podium finish and sixth place over-all in an International event participated in by elite athletes within the ASEAN region. The event was the Indonesian National Armed Forces International Marathon 2018 which was organized to celebrate the 73rd Anniversary of the Indonesian National Armed Forces. This marathon event was held at Kuta Beach, Mandalika, Lombok, Indonesia last 04 November 2018 after being cancelled last 23 Sept due to inclement weather.

    The event was participated in by thousands of runners consisting of students, community members of the TNI/POLRI, International Armed Forces/Police, National athletes as well as International athletes. 

    Among these runners is a proud Army trooper named Corporal Jho-An Banayag Villarma (PA), a 36-year old native of Maragusan, Compostela Valley who, despite a plantar injury reclaimed a bronze medal in the women’s 21K category. She had a time of 1 hour, 37 minutes and 50.4 seconds in completing her event and won a cash prize of Rp 28 Million or Php 100,000.00. Meanwhile, another Army trooper Corporal Richard Salaño (PA) placed sixth,in the event winning a cash price of Rp 15M or Php 57,000.00.
